Revelation

Grace 15

  1. Some may say this is a no-brainer, but I don’t think it’s possible to feel more purely, wholly loved than when your little 5-month-old looks you in the eyes. Owen doesn’t know anything about me. He doesn’t know my strengths and weaknesses, so he isn’t basing his love off of anything I’ve ever done. He probably appreciates the fact that I feed him, but other than that minor detail … he just loves me for being. He trusts me without reservation. With the birth of Owen, I’ve been given a clean slate in someone’s eyes. A huge blessing, but an even greater responsibility …
  2. Tonight I cooked with lentils for the first time. I love a good legume, and this was no exception. Rice, lentils, tomatoes, and some lettuce-looking thing from last week’s CSA basket. Pretty tasty.

  3. Then I got really thirsty after a steamy bite. But where could I get some water? Why, the icy water bottle that Kyle prepared for his basketball game but left standing on the side table. Yay for Kyle’s forgetfulness actually paying off!
  4. The part where Owen now rolls onto stomach and gets his arm stuck between the crib rails every single night isn’t the blessing:

  5. Having good reasons to stay up much too late, when I’m very, very tired.

  1. I should start doing a list like this. #1 is the best, isn’t it?

  2. #4-Dad said you could always nail some plywood around the crib!! Ha! Ha!

  3. Lentils are the best. I’m going to forward you a recipe I have for a moroccan lamb soup that has lentils AND chickpeas.
