Weight check and graces

My blogging comes and goes in spurts. Kyle is making me blog about our weight, while we celebrate Cinco de Mayo with drinks and snacks, so that we will be “publicly accountable.” So here’s the dish: I am winning. We each lost 1 whopping pound, but I have a higher percentage of weight loss since I weigh less than him. I must admit that I did serve him rather large dinner portions on Sunday evening. It paid off, for this week at least.

Obviously I’m very far behind on my graces, which isn’t surprising. I usually don’t do well with the optional commitments, but I am very disappointed in myself. So I’ll play catch-up again:

Thursday

  1. I got to watch Kyle play basketball … but then he was mean to me :( for no good reason.
  2. But then we resolved our conflict after I stormed out of the living room.
  3. Found out that I was going to get our first CSA basket on Friday!
  4. Learned about a new vegetable, called kohlrabi. I like learning new things.
  5. Productive day at work.

Friday

  1. Picked up our CSA basket! Community Supported Agriculture is a program in which people band together to purchase a “share” of a garden, and then get to share in the rewards of fresh produce weekly.
  2. Hosted our church’s “small group” for dinner.
  3. Introduced a few folks to bison burgers.
  4. Owen fell asleep on his playmat, amid all the noise, with his arm around a basketball.
  5. Got to burn my new citronella candles.

Saturday

  1. Met up with some of my former Aqua Moms friends for a playdate with our new babies. I swear by water aerobics for pregnant ladies. It’s the perfect way to reduce swelling, increase flexibility, chat about pregnancy, exercise, ease sore muscles …
  2. Rented another “Mad Men” Season One disc.
  3. Kyle slept in till 11. This actually wasn’t much of a blessing for me.
  4. Rainy day = cozy inside day.
  5. Threw together a fun pot of soup. I’m a mad scientist in the kitchen.

Sunday

  1. Church service … about grace! How fitting.
  2. Meeting with friends after church.
  3. Celebrating the pregnancy of a friend. Unfortunately, she’s about to move away.
  4. Winning one small battle in the weight war.
  5. Shopping!

Monday

  1. Cooking with turnips. (I didn’t like them, but see: “mad scientist in the kitchen.”)
  2. Quality time with Owen while Kyle played softball AND golf. Isn’t he lucky to be married to such a generous lady like myself?
  3. Putting Owen in a funny new pair of PJs.
  4. Watching Owen roll over, and over, and over.
  5. Taking photos of my handsome little guy:

Tuesday

  1. Reflecting on many grace-filled days.
  2. Spending a lunchbreak with Owen …
  3. … At his wonderful new daycare.
  4. Spending some time with Kyle at his office after work, and Kyle later making yummy margaritas (at home, not at the office).
  5. Cooking the vegetarian Eggs in a Nest (and it was good!) with the rainbow chard from our CSA basket … a recipe I stole from a friend.
